Logging in
- Select the network you want to login to on the left, by clicking the name or icon.
- Type your username and password in the box that appears on the right.
- Click 'sign in' to start the New Messenger.
Opening a chat with a buddy
- Double-click the buddy in your contact list to open a chat.
- To switch between chats and buddy list, single-click one of the tabs on the top
Sending messages
- Make sure you are in the chat window by selecting a tab with a single-click.
- Start typing your message.
- When the message is finished, hit the ‘Enter’ key or press the send button.
Receiving messages
- A number on one of the tabs indicates there is an unread message in that chat.
- Select the chat by selecting the tab with a single click.
- You can now read the messages your buddy sent to you.
- New messages will appear automatically when they are received by eBuddy.
Changing your theme
- You can change the look of eBuddy by changing the theme.
- Click ‘Themes’ in the top right corner of the window.
- Single-click on the theme you like most.
- Click ‘Done’ to apply the changes.
Editing other settings
- eBuddy can be customized by controlling more settings.
- Click ‘Options’ in the top right corner of the screen.
- Click the icons on the left to change different types of settings.
- Click ‘Done’ to apply the settings, or ‘Cancel’ to revert back to your old settings.
Help?! Where is my old eBuddy?
As of April 6th, we offer all of our users the new version of eBuddy; we think it is better. This new version of eBuddy is faster, more reliable and gives you more options. On slow PCs the login to eBuddy should now be twice as fast as the old one. If you still want to use the old version, we still have it available. Click ‘go to the old version’ on the bottom right of the loginbox.
Why do I sometimes get the old and sometimes get the new version?
You are probably using different web browsers. The new eBuddy is build for the latest browsers and works best if you have a recently updated browser on your computer.
You will get the new eBuddy when you have Internet Explorer 7 or better, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or any other browser. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 or lower, we will give you the old version.
Go to http://updateyourbrowser.net/ to download & install the latest version of your browser.
Where did webcam chat go? I cannot find it in the New Messenger!
Unfortunately webcam chat is not yet available in the New eBuddy Web Messenger. We are committed to give you the best chat experience and are continuously working on improvements. You can still use webcam chat in the old version of eBuddy. Click ‘go to the old version’ on the bottom right of the loginbox.
